Upgraded my S8 to a stealth matte black instead of the glass back fingerprint magnet. However I have realized since that glass actually can be both slippery, but also have a lot of traction. Never really understood how much a photo can be improved by software. I tracks my runs and I have also been using a stepcounter. This can give me an understanding of of I am faster or slower on a run. But I think stat tracking really begins to make sense when an app helps you translate numbers into understandable content. As for example in Strava where it recognises a route and tells me I have been faster or Garmin connects tells me I always walks less on Tuesdays. Stats really only matter for the user if they can be understood. #ui #ux #design #run #running #strava #garmin #fenix3

It has been 4 years since I last played with apps. Now I give it another shot with a tutorial from udacity with focus on interfaces. I don't aim to become a great coder. The goal is to become a better designer by having a greater understanding of how an app work. When designing boats I had to understand the principles for how a mold works. So to become better at interaction and interfaces I would like to know a bit more about the way an interface is built. #design #android #app #ui #ux

"It should have been a button" - @mkbhd In his review of the Google Home Mini Marques points out that the mute switch on the device should have been a button since you can mute the device with a voice command. This is a great example on why it is important to have hybrid designers between digital interaction and physical design. Digital reading #2. The Amazon Kindle app is the first ebook reader that I have used that take advantage of being digital. Here the trade-off begins to make sense. I loose the pleasure of having a physical book but I gained the ability to long press any word I don't understand and get a definition, wikipage and a translation. + I can see all of my highlights in one place. One thing I would like to see Amazon include would be notetaking directly on top of the pages with the apple pencil. Since the iPad can differentiate between finger and styles there shouldn't be any accidentally doodles or page turns. Would be great for study books. Digital reading. I am currently reading a book about user experience and actually getting twice the learning since this is also one of my first real encounters with digital reading. One of the first things I saw was that it said loc instead of page numbers. I had to Google the term, but then it made perfect sense. Loc stands for location and due to the ability to change font size and screens in different sizes page numbers wouldn't make much sense. Fun to consider how the content adapts to the way it is consumed. Fx vertical videos has become a thing with the smartphone. #ux #userexperience #design #kindle #ebook #reading #productdesign

First run since marathon. ( knee pains ). This post was however not intended to be about running but about all the digital stats we collect and how to make them useful. I for example always run with my Fenix 3 and actually wears it as my daily watch. As much as I like my watch I dislike the Garmin software. I simply don't think they transform my data into useful information. I therefore mostly use my watch to give me direct feedback while running. Today was a more indoor day. I visited the art museum in Torshavn @listasavn_foroya. It was fun to see the permanent exhibition to get a sense of the Faroe art. The temporary exhibition with William Heinesen was really super. After this it was the national museum. Here I learned that the flag os the Faroe islands was designed in 1919 by a group of students to make it fit with rest of the Scandinavian cross flags. And was taken in use under the 2. World war. So a much younger flag than the Danish I am used too. / #faroeislands #torshavn #photo #photography

Thursday I was invited to a sneak peak at @kadkdk exhibition 'Solutions'. Here design and architecture graduates had worked with 17 global goals @theglobalgoals . Currently working my way through the pile of books that I have started on but not finished. I don't know how famous the TV series "Arn - the Templar knight" is outside of Scandinavia. It is about a young boy being raised in monastery and later becomes a Templar knight. For me it was a good story to tell how people raised in a one environment can have a hard time understand the world outside 'their state of normal'. Next book will be "the design of future things". Book recommend! #3 I enjoy digital media as much as anyone else. But I also really reading both fiction and non-fuction books. I don't know if this will become a regular thing but I have quite a few I wanna share. The first one is the book series called "A song of Ice and fire" which most of you properly know from HBO television show - Game of Thrones. It is a fantastic universe and is easy to consume. Plus a major plus for me is that there is so many books in the series so you don't have to go book hunting any time soon. Definitely start with number one "Game of thrones". This is book number 3 part 1. Recently I got into podcasts and have a few episodes I want to share with you later on. But let me share something else first. On iPhone you can find more or less all podcasts in the iTunes app. On android you are not that lucky. (Google play is still not available in all countries). So people use a bunch of different upload services SoundCloud, spreaker etc. How do you solve that? Well all the podcast is collected in the iTunes library, so you simply have to provide access to that. I have no idea how the poketcasts app is during it. But it is worth every penny if you want to listen to podcasts on android. It was also books that was consumed well as an audiobook. I think it was one of my teachers at @kadkdk that introduced me to the idea of using AAD (algorithm aided design) combined with rapid production techniques to bring back individualism to mass produced products. Say in other words. Not two products will be exactly the same. It might just me not knowing where to look But it is also only a few versions of windows back where a screenshot took 3 steps instead of 1. I think that the last year have been one of the most interesting years for android phones in a while. For me it all started with the Xiaomi Mi mix which was like the perfect bezel less design. (And you were able to buy it.) I also think it was interesting to see where google went with their Pixel line after they have killed the Nexus family. I am a huge fan of stock android, so my dream phone should be running stock. I however think the galaxy s8 is light years ahead of the pixel in design. There is just one thing with these bezel less phones that annoys me. Why does brands not use it to downscale the overall dimensions? the brands just seams to make bigger screens on a familiar size (which I find a tad to big). So! Thought it was about time to show the other side of the wyvern. A quick concept on how to combine a fitness tracker with a old school music player. So offline music makes sense for running. But it also make a lot of sense to use bluetooth. Then you would gain some freedom of movement compared to having your audio plug into fx. your laptop. You could also imagine that the device would be chrome cast enabled so you could just cast any audio to it. Inspired by @mkbhd video series "dear [company]" . Dear @garmin please explain to me why a high-end multisports watch cannot the manage to store the current days calendar events on the fenix device storage. It is plain text data. Same goes for weather information. I understand that a constant Bluetooth connection is required for notifications. But you cannot let my calendar go blank just because I shut down my phone. When the phone is off is actually the most important time for the fenix to show the calendar. Just some thoughts..Btw Bluetooth sync > usb sync. After a fitness post -> geek post. A big passion and interest of my is tech products and especially consumer targeted products. I am also a big android fan and have owned both the Nexus 4 & 5 (+7). But when my N5 died I didn't find any of the flagships worthy of their pricetag. So I bought myself a Redmi note 3 to try something completely different. But after a while I missed the stock android feeling. I have now rooted my phone and got lineage os on it instead of miui. A non design post! Just beat my old record on a half marathon distance. It was from 2011 ( old record was 1.48.??). It was the first time since then I have been above 20km. I have since 2012 focused on training design skills rather than running. But now I wanted to step my running game up a bit.
