Wood | Concrete
An outdoor chair combining concrete and wood in a week-long workshop.
This project was made during my time at the Scandinavian Design College in a one week course called "BUILD". We had one week to design, build a cast, and cast a concrete outdoor chair with a wood element.
I started with clay 3D sketches exploring benches and other forms, but we were limited to 50cm×50cm×50cm and the chair had to be light enough to move.
I chose a simple box form and wanted to let the top wood piece be the detailing of my chair. A quick render helped me explore the wood/concrete proportions before building the actual mold.
The final product combines the raw, industrial aesthetic of concrete with the warmth of natural wood.
